The podcast phenomenon is here to stay, and more than a few companies have decided to bet on it. Google was one of them, launching Google Podcast in 2018, but just over five years later, the days of the platform are numbered. On April 2 this year, Google Podcast ceased to exist, becoming yet another project of the American company that ends up disappearing. Google announced in September 2023 that its podcast platform would be closed in the coming months, and the month chosen was April. The company is betting on YouTube Music, a platform that already integrates the podcast format.

Where can we listen to the programs we follow on Google Podcast?

If you want to continue using this service, and still be part of the Google ecosystem, you can do so from YouTube Music, since Google offers the possibility of exporting subscriptions in OPML format. With this, we will sign up for YouTube Music and we will be automatically subscribed to the podcasts we have been listening to. Users will have until July to make the migration, which is not mandatory, so if you want to use this new service, you can follow the necessary steps to do so and continue enjoying the content you have been listening to from Google Podcast.

Google’s graveyard

There are more than 100 services that Google has launched that have eventually disappeared by the company’s own decision. This is an impressive list that includes platforms such as the aforementioned Google Podcast, Google Hangouts and Google Plus, among many others. The American company has no problems when it comes to creating and launching new products, but many of them do not end up working as expected and end up with a closure and demise that can be consulted on the website The Google Cemetery.
